Are you ready for a good laugh?
A couple nights ago our phone rings at 4:00 a.m. I check caller ID and I quickly notice that it is my mom. Immediately, I answer the phone - frantic that something is wrong! Why else would she be calling at four in the morning?
Here's how the conversation went down:
Nadia: "Hello?"
Mom: "Nod - sorry to wake you up, but there is a wild animal in the house!"
(Keep in mind, I am like a bear coming out of hibernation, so it took me a few seconds to process what my mother just said!)
Nadia: "What? A wild animal?"
Mom: "Yes, we think it's in the dining room or kitchen. We are locked in the bedroom and scared to come out! Will you wake Jason up and have him come up?"
Nadia: "Yeah... he'll be right up." (Little did I know, I was going, too!)
Nadia: "Jason (tapping on his shoulder), can you please go up to Mom & Grandma's? They think there's a wild animal in the kitchen."
Jason: "What!?! Are you freakin' kidding me? This is ridiculous! There better be a damn deer in the kitchen! If I'm going up there in the middle of the night, then you are coming with me!"
Nadia: "Okay, okay, lets just go."
So, we jump in Jason's truck and drive to their house. Jason gets out of the car and proceeds to walk around the entire perimeter of the house. He said he was checking the doors and windows to make sure that nothing was broken. (I think he was scared and was preparing himself to go inside.) After about 10 minutes of walking around the house, he finally goes inside.
Whispering, my mother asks him, "Jason, do you want to hide in the bedroom until we hear it again?"
Jason: "No, I want to find it, get it out, and go back to bed."
So, he looks around the kitchen, quickly noticing that the dog food was still in Charlie's bowl. At this point he felt reassured that it was not a "wild animal". About that time, they hear the noise again. Jason jumps (even though he'd deny it). He turns around to find my grandmother's purse making the noise. It was her new cell phone... LOW BATTERY!
