The Paul Family Blog: Cabin Fever

The holidays have given Jason & I quite a few days off. Although very thankful, we are certainly not used to having so much time off. We were quickly developing a little 'cabin fever'. As we rang in the new year, we were ready for a weekend get-a-way. But where to? I'm always a big fan of warm weather, but Jason wasn't big on going any where too far away. So, to the lake condo we went. We packed a few things, loaded the dogs in the car, and headed to the lakes early Friday afternoon. We got up there in time to run to the grocery store to buy a few items to get us through the weekend. I made a big pot of Chili, we made some 'summer beer', and enjoyed Friday night to ourselves. We woke up Saturday morning and decided we were going to start remodeling the downstairs bedroom. So, "Operation Condo" began. You'll see from the pictures that the bedroom was decorated with beautiful floral wallpaper. I'm honestly surprised it has lasted a year-and-a-half. We were able to strip off ALL the wall paper. After two trash bags full, it will be ready to paint next weekend! I thought I hated taking wall paper off, but this batch came off rather easy. I compared it to peeling skin after a sunburn - something I love to do... SICK - I know, but some one's gotta do it, right?

Saturday night, we went shopping in Warsaw, ate dinner, and then headed back to the condo to watch the Colts - what happened???? We woke up this morning, enjoyed breakfast together and then headed home. What was a perfect weekend turned into a little chaos on the way home. About 30 minutes into the 2 hour trip, we stopped for some fountain drinks and to get gas. Jason quickly discovered he left his wallet at the condo. So, we drove 30 minutes there and back to get his wallet, adding an hour to our trip home! Note: If it were my wallet, it would've stayed there until next weekend. It's not like we carry cash!

Regardless, we had a nice little weekend get-a-way - just the two of us. Thank you , honey, for a wonderful weekend!
