5 Years!!!

Our Wedding Day (9/25/04)

Today is our 5th Wedding Anniversary! WOW... the years go so fast. It seems like just yesterday my sister was calling me to tell me that Jeff (her husband) wanted to "hook me up" with the brother of "this girl" (Stephani) from Apria Healthcare. Those of you who know us well know that it took almost 3 months for us to meet. Or, I should say - for me to return Jason's phone call?

Let me explain: I had a severe ankle injury from playing volleyball. I had a terrible sprain which developed into a disease called RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy). Google it... it's awful! If the disease progresses, it can lead to amputation of the affected limb - YIKES! Fortunately, my RSD was rather mild, but nonetheless... I certainly was not interested in meeting someone. I was more worried about loosing my left leg! Plus, I was on crutches, then in a walking boot.... do you get the picture? Who wants to go on a date while they are using crutches? So, Jason would call and leave me a message. And... I wouldn't call him back - my mother raised me with the saying "girls don't call boys". However, after about 2 months, even my mother told me I was being RUDE! Eventually, I returned his phone call. :) We met one night and we both will tell you - we went home thinking - this will never work... we are both too opinionated! However, by the 3rd date - I knew Jason was "the one" & I think he'd admit that he knew, too. And... here we are - happily married for 5 years!

Now some of you may be wondering about the 5-year Plan!?! For those of you who don't know, I will explain. After getting married, people seem to ask you 2 questions: Where are you going on your honeymoon? And, When are you going to have children? If you're married... you know! Well the first question was easy. We were going/went to Hawaii. The 2nd question wasn't as easy. We still felt like kids! So, we began telling everyone we were on the "5-year Plan". Well..... the 5 year plan is up! And... still know Paul babies. We are both ready to start a family, but we don't feel it's the most responsible thing to do while I am finishing my Master's. So, we are extending the plan for two more years.

The last 5 years have brought many great times and a few "not so great" ones. All in all, we are truly blessed. We have a wonderful family, the best of friends, two precious dogs, and jobs that are fairly secure. What more can you really ask for?

Happy Anniversary, Jason! I love you more and more each day! I am looking forward to what the next 5 years will bring! :)
