Never forgotten...

As I sit here this beautiful Sunday morning, I cannot help but think of the many people who lost their lives 10 years ago. Where were you when the first plane hit? I was 21 years old, a senior in undergraduate nursing school, completing a clinical rotation in the Delaware County Jail. I was with one of my very best friends, Jessica Duncan (Keesling). We were passing morning medications to "O Block", which I understand is the highest security section of the Del. Co. jail. Terrified to even be in the jail next to prisoners, I quietly entered O Block and began to pass meds. I remember one prisoner who came running up to me (I jumped back) and he said... "Have you heard? A plane just hit the World Trade Center!" At this point, like many, we didn't even dream about a terrorist attack on the United States. Of course, when the second plane hit... we knew something awful was happening! Since we were in a federal building... we immediately were placed on lock down. This meant that we could not leave. We could not use electronic devices and we could not call home! After 1-2 hours (or what seemed like forever), we were permitted to exit the building. It was a tearful ride home. Jessica and I quickly reached for our cell phones to call our mothers to simply say "I love you"!

Thankfully, Jessica & I were both able to return home to our loved ones! My heart still aches for those who lost their lives on 9/11! You will never be forgotten!

I read this on facebook today and I must admit... it did bring a smile to my face. So proud to be an American!!!

You took a cheap shot, because you didn't have the courage to fight like a man. You call yourself a warrior, but you attacked our civilians because you didn't have the guts to attack our warriors. You tried to bring our Nation to her knees...you bloodied our nose but our head remained unbowed. We hunted and killed you in deserts, mountains and on the sea. We killed your leader (and his wife) at night and dumped his @$$ in the ocean. Never forget? We're just getting warmed up!
